One of my favorite closet staples is back in style, it is none other than, animal print. From the runway, to the streets, everyone is wearing them these days. My personal fave is the leopard print as it can look so fierce no matter how you style it. I also love the colors brown, black and gold, there’s something very earthy and you instantly feel one with nature once you wear any item with this type of print. Be it a shirt, sweater, a pair of jeans or even a bag.

In today’s post, I’m sharing some tips and tricks on how to wear animal print. 🤗

Don’t go overboard. Just like most busy prints, a pattern like a leopard or zebra or cheetah print is already a very eye-catching piece. Try not to wear other crazy colors and multiple prints while wearing any animal print. If you’re wearing a leopard print, stick to it, and forget about wearing flowers and other printed items on your outfit. People will not know where to look whether it’s your very confusing attire, or you.

Pick a color scheme.  If the print has black and white colors, choose one color to accentuate and downplay the others. In this outfit I chose to highlight the black parts of the print and I stayed away from the gold and brown. This makes for a more put together look. You don’t have to exactly match the colors, just pick clothes or accessories close to your main color and choose those.

Size and Color Matters. In animal prints that is. Or any printed clothing. Be aware that small prints make you look tiny and bigger ones make you look huge. If you’re plus size avoid extremely huge print as that makes you look bigger. To be on the safe side, small to medium sized designs will work best with most body types. Same as in picking your colors, a zebra striped sweater (white with black horizontal stripes) will make someone look wider, and a dark gray cheetah print top will make someone smaller.

Be bold and experiment! Try something you’ve never tried wearing before. I for one have never worn a zebra print outfit ever. I think it’s so beautiful and could easily become a staple in my closet! 🙂 Also, animal print sweaters are great not just with jeans or leggings but with shorts or skirts as well. Maybe even on top of a dress! The sky’s the limit! I have also seen some animal print bodysuits which I am honestly scared to try (too much resemblance to the Flintones I guess 😅 ) But with the right outfit I could make it work! 😉 And so can you! So go out there and try a new animal print attire today!

  5. I love your leopard print sweater and how you styled it with those boots! Your tip of keeping in mind the size of the print is really helpful. I never thought of that before but when looking for animal print items I’m going to keep that in mind.

  9. Well great minds certainly think alike because in my last post I mention leopard print as a booming trend! Loving your leopard print jumper, in general, animal print is one of my fav looks to rock during the colder seasons. There are so many textures and colour schemes to play with.
