I have been seeing a lot of color pop on sweaters lately, in particular, color blocking. It’s such an cool trend on the usual (if not sometimes boring?) sweater which has rarely evolved into something else, apart from the sleeves, textures, fit and etc, it is still a basic sweater.
Now if you’re not into the “ugly sweater” variety but still want a bit of versatility on this fall staple, I highly suggest you go for this design. I absolutely love color and stripes, so this marriage is a match made in heaven for me. This one I have on is so lightweight, just the right amount of warmth so I am still able to pull it off with a mini skirt 😊

What I like about this sweater style is that you can spot someone wearing it a mile away. I am not kidding. 😉I spotted this one in the store and made a beeline to it. Which makes it a perfect top for the airport or crowded areas as it’s easy to find someone wearing big multicolored stripes on them. 😊
It has not been that much cooler here in the OC where I am so pairing a sweater with a cute mini skirt and some booties totally works! I chose to wear an animal print mini as animal print is so hot right now it’s literally everywhere! I love leopard and cheetah prints (don’t worry they’re always faux!) as they usually go with anything. It makes an outfit edgy and suddenly fierce!
I wore a pair of neutral colored booties to top this look as it makes all the colors more cohesive and it definitely makes that maroon in the sweater pop. A pair of black boots/booties will work too as the animal print skirt I have on has some black in it. The key in having a more ‘put together’ look is to find colors/patterns that are or somewhat the same and that totally makes an amazing outfit!
Don’t forget to play with textures and accessories for that icing on top of the cake! I would do a light brown suede jacket to go with this look, or a leather jacket will do too if you’re feeling some rockstar vibes. 😉 Either way, layering up during this transitional weather makes it so fun to play with different pieces of clothing, and you may already have these in your closet. 😊
I would also totally wear this sweater with jeans, leggings or sometimes even a maxi skirt. You know those days when you want your legs to feel free but it’s freakin’ cold outside? Throw in a maxi skirt with this sweater and all is well. It makes for an artsy look too 😉
I would love some yellow and orange colors of color block sweaters as this makes a stark contrast in the sometimes blah weather that this season can bring. We can all use more brightening things in our lives don’t you agree? As for neutral colors, they are always a mainstay in my closet just like this cute sweater.
Whatever you choose, color block sweaters is a fun way to start the Fall season wether you are in jeans or a skirt. This trend is here to stay. What do you think yay or nay? 😉
