Being in my early 30’s, (I just turned 33) I have definitely seen a lot of changes in my skin. I have combination skin, I tend to have an oilier t-zone and drier cheeks, but in my teen years, I used to have a more problematic skin type- I started getting acne on the onset of puberty, and had to get extractions and did a lot of topical antibiotics on my face.
Fast forward to today- and thank God for that! 😉I don’t get acne regularly anymore, though I still get the occasional pimple here and there, but I can’t really complain. I adapted a much healthier diet and skin care routine that had pretty much kept those little unwanted troublemakers off my face. Though now, as I get older I notice my pores are much bigger and I find my skin with texture and and uneven tone.
I love makeup as you can probably tell with my youtube videos, and am guilty for wearing it for long periods of time. I don’t sleep with makeup on, but this has definitely clogged my pores at times and enhanced texture in my skin.
I do exfoliate which can be tricky in this weather as the skin can get overly dry, and thus adding more texture and roughness. Luckily I have found Cane and Austin’s 20% Miracle Pad and it has been a game changer. When they reached out to me to try this product I happily obliged.
Cane and Austin’s products are derived from Sugar Cane Glycolic Acid formulated by Dermatologist Dr. Craig Austin. Sugar Cane have smaller molecules than most AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) that goes deeper in the skin to exfoliate, moisturize and reduce the size of pores.
I have previously tried their 10% Miracle Pad in the past and loved it. I have since then incorporated Glycolic Acid products in my routine and it has definitely improved my skin. If you don’t already know, Glycolic Acid gently resurfaces the skin, making pores smaller giving the skin a smoother texture. It also evens out skintone, lightens acne scars and helps with fine lines and wrinkles.
I was a bit hesitant to try this 20% strength as I thought it might be a bit strong on my sensitive skin. But alas, this product is so gentle on the face, I didn’t feel any tingling sensation at all!
It was no surprise to me since Cane and Austin’s products are amazing and they truly are of the highest quality and their peel pads are the best. I have tried other brands both drugstore and high end and I can say their’s is the absolute best!
As you can see on my fingers on the photo above, the pads are really soaked and juicy enough that no pad is dry at all. This is after just picking up the pad (not squeezing it) the “juice” seeps through unlike some brands where the pads are in a foil pack or a plastic jar, I find those to dry up so quickly. With Cane and Austin, it comes in this beautiful glass jar and rest assured, the pads have much of the product on them so when you use it, it actually goes a long way from your face, to your neck and even elbows- trust me the pads are wet.
I usually start on my cheeks and gently stroke/press downward, definitely not in a rubbing motion. Always remember to be gentle on your face ladies (and gents!) 🤗The acid will do the exfoliation, not how deep you rub your face.
Then I like to do a clockwise motion, avoiding the eye area. I go around the crevices of the nose, and other nook and crannies of the face but I usually have a lot of product left over so I do the neck next, again with a gentle top to bottom movements.
After the neck area, I still have a wet pad after that so I use it for my elbows- hey it helps to lighten them too! 😉Don’t let that product go to waste!
I let the product sit and dry for a few minutes then I follow up with a good moisturizer to top it off. This peel pad is gentle to use daily for all skin types even sensitive ones. For sensitive gals, like me, I would test it out to use at night first then gradually increase to twice daily as you tolerate it. Don’t forget to put sunscreen if you are going to use this during the day🤗
I did not have any issues using these pads twice daily, but if you do experience irritation or sensitivity from it, decrease your frequency of use and consult your physician if problems persist.
I did not experience any dryness with this product, I make sure to use a really good moisturizer when I do exfoliate. If I feel like my skin is getting drier, I use this once a day or a few times a week. Either way, my skin’s tone and texture has improved greatly after every use, and I love that it’s gentle on the skin and so easy too! 😉I like taking these to travel since it’s so easy to use!
The only downside I found is that it’s a bit pricey, but I think it’s worth the investment. I would recommend this to women in their 30’s or 40’s as some aging signs have probably crept up by this time. For younger gals, check out the 10% Retexture pad and other Cane and Austin products on the widget below or on caneandaustin.com to find out which of their peel pads is right for you.
Do you exfoliate regularly? How about in the winter? Let me know on the comments how you do it!
