This year has been my ultimate year of travel! I finally achieved one of my bucket lists which is to travel around Europe for a month! We went during Spring which is one of the best times to travel, with less crowds and fairly decent weather😊 I’m sharing my European Travel Diaries with all of you on a 5 part series on Youtube, I just uploaded the first part/episode, check it out, video is below this post!
In the meantime, here are my 5 Travel Tips to Sicily, Italy, a must read if you’re planning to visit soon!😁
- There are Way Less Crowds than other parts of Italy– Especially in the low season, before Summer months, or even early Fall, you will find lots of room in most areas, unlike if you go to Milan, Rome or Venice which is pretty full of tourists anytime, anyday. So relax, you will definitely be able to breathe and enjoy yourself, peak summer months are a different story, places are packed.
- Double check your carry-on luggage– Some areas you will have to ride planes that are smaller and some of those airlines get waay stingy with overhead cabin space so be prepared. Your standard carryon might not meet the requirements, research European sized carryons which is typically smaller than what is the standard US size, some Airlines even have different size requirements. Check out this resource here.
- RideShare is not available in some areas– Uber and other Rideshare apps do not operate in areas like Catania or Taormina. Hiring a private transfer car such as Transfeero is your best bet, if you don’t have family/acquaintance that can help take you to your destination.
- Places are a few hours drive each way, public transport is not reliable– I didn’t quite grasp this until my cousin and her family were driving me and my husband for 4+ hours one weekend when we came from Noto and Marzamemi. These places take time to get to and there are no trains or readily available cabs or buses for tourists. Plan ahead and check your map when planning your itinerary😉
- Food and some items are cheaper compared to it’s other Italian city counterparts– this tip is a good one, as you can save alot if you’re visiting areas in Sicily! Even in the nice restaurants in downtown Catania or Noto food is generally cheaper so bring everyone in your family along! I’m surprisingly shocked how cheap their food is, without sacrificing it’s quality! Seafood pasta, pizza are aplenty so be sure to eat to your heart’s content!🤗
